About the Artist

Lo is the Orange County-based visual artist behind Loke Orbs

Interior photography of a sunlit artist studio featuring a minimalist wooden workspace and numerous hanging kokedama plants. The airy, natural atmosphere evokes a serene and creative sanctuary.

The Journey

Lo's  journey began with a profound appreciation for the quiet elegance of nature, driven by a deep connection to botanical textures and the delicate balance of forest life. Merging traditional botanical craft with an avant-garde artistic lens, Lo specializes in sculpting living art installations through the medium of Kokedama—the historic Japanese art of wrapping a plant’s root ball in moss.

Drawing deep inspiration from contemporary living art, Lo's work redefines how we interact with interior green spaces. He transforms raw earth, moss, and exotic flora into floating, gravity-defying sculptural orbs. Each piece is treated not as a temporary household plant, but as a unique, living, breathing individual. This core philosophy is why patrons do not simply buy a Loke Orb—they adopt a piece of fine botanical art.

From his private production studio in Orange County, Lo hand-crafts every single piece to balance biological sustainability with striking visual aesthetics. Beyond creating gallery-grade installations, he is deeply committed to community cultivation, hosting interactive workshops that invite others to step into the studio, connect with raw materials, and master the art of Kokedama. Through Loke Orbs, Lo invites you to step out of the ordinary and welcome a piece of living, evolving piece of art into your world.

Artist Statement

"My artwork reimagines traditional Japanese botanical sculpture through a modern, ecological lens. By liberating indoor tropical plants—such as delicate ferns, structural Alocasias, and fenestrated Monsteras—from traditional, synthetic pots, I create self-sustaining living spheres bound in moss and twine.

Rooted in the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, each piece honors the beauty of natural transience and imperfection. The work explores the tension between organic growth and curated containment. By styling these kokedamas in sourced vessels, repurposed ceramics, and raw geological stones, I bridge the gap between the domestic interior and the untamed forest floor. Whether suspended dynamically in mid-air via metal hooks or grounded atop natural materials, these living sculptures invite viewers to pause and witness a quiet, evolving ecosystem operating in real-time."

The Art of Kokedama

Sculpting Miniature Worlds

Kokedama is the art of binding a plant's root system in a specialized soil mix and moss, creating a unique living sculpture. At Loke Orbs, we follow a philosophy that values tactile detail and botanical integrity. Each orb is hand-cradled to ensure longevity and aesthetic balance, transforming common plants into miniature ecosystems that evoke a sense of calm and artisanal elegance. Our process is deliberate, requiring patience and a deep respect for the living form.
